I have always had a flare for design and sewing. So 4 years ago, I followed my passion and attended fashion school. It was an eye opener. I learned technical and practical approaches to design, pattern making, draping, grading and garment construction. Am looking to start a ready to wear fashion line and some point share the knowledge I’ve gained by starting a training program/school. I’ve gradually bought equipment - industrial machines, industrial serger, industrial irons/steamer, button hole sewing machine, mannequins, cutting table etc. Now I am trying out designs with manually made patterns. Access to and an adept grasp of CAD will be a game changer for my fashion brand. It will open up to me other largely untapped areas of the fashion industry - specifically commercial pattern making/sales for African inspired and era inspired fashion. This grant will radically change my narrative in the fashion world.
